Alternatives to Alcoholics Anonymous A. A.
Notice: I am not an advocate for any of these alternatives. In fact with
the dual diagnosis, very few of them have or would work for me in my
unique case. However, that claim to have "addiction treatment options."
Other Programs
- SMART Recovery
- Celebrate Recovery
Inpatient Care
Addiction Rehab Centers: A health facility that focuses on recovery from
addiction. These may specialize in prescription medication treatments,
therapy-based treatments such as CBT, faith-specific or 12-step
recovery. Newer programs are emerging in areas such as functional
medicine and experimental treatments. One example is
Talbott Addiction Recovery Center. The price was around $50,000 per month in 2017.
State Mental Health Hospitals: A health facility that focuses on recover
from mental health conditions. It may have a detox section to help with
the withdrawal process. It may have voluntary and involuntary options.
One example is
Anchor Hospital. The price was
around $8,000 per day in 2017.
Mental Health Institutions: A health facility that may offer mental
health services and/or addiction treatment services. I personally
attended both an inpatient and outpatient capacity. The price was
outrageously expensive, but it was an extremely important part of my
overall recovery process. My first few months in recovery had awful
withdrawal symptoms and being in an inpatient institutional was useful
at this part of my journey. One example is
Ridgeview Institute.
The price was around $50,000 per month in 2017.
